Gastroenterology

We are currently developing the gastroenterology network with the aim of providing education and expertise to support delivery of new patient pathways across the region. Our clinical lead, Dr Osvaldo Borrelli brings his expertise in gut dysmotility and GOSH’s PIPO clinic to support other gastroenterologists with the latest treatments.

Dr Osvaldo Borrelli

Clinical Lead

Dr Osvaldo Borrelli is the Lead of Gastroenterology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital. His clinical interests embrace severe disorders of gastrointestinal motility and disorders of gut-brain interactions. Dr Borrelli leads the specialist motility centre for children with severe congenital and acquired gut motility disease, where state-of-art diagnostic investigations are performed, including antroduodenal manometry and colonic manometry. Dr Borrelli is the Lead of NHS England high specialised service (HSS) for Paediatric Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction (PIPO) as well as he is also the Chair of North Thames Paediatric Gastroenterology Network, Currently, he is member of GI Committee of European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN). He is also member of different international working groups on the development of new clinical guidelines for disorders of brain-gut interaction, and on the standardization of complex motility investigations.
